Early 20th Century oak Cartonnier cabinet from France, dating from the 1920/1930s. Has 16 ‘drawers’ that are in the form of boxes (cartons) – the fronts can be opened in situ, or the entire carton can be removed. Each carton is made from thin wood, covered in green paper with brass index card holders and brass catches. Wooden hinged security rail on both sides, with working locks and original keys. This would have been used as a filing cabinet, probably in a grand office. Great original condition, with some marks and signs of use.
